Some sneak peeks from my time in the mountains - I am missing the Alps very much and thankful to have had my first taste of them come together in such an epic way. Looking forward to returning again and having more time to explore, hike and immerse myself. This image is of the Großglockner the highest mountain in the Austrian alps, and of the retreating Pasterze Glacier. The glacier is receding rapidly, losing several tens of meters in length annually, with figures such as 50-60 meters in a single year and a record 28.7 meters average retreat in the 2021-2022 period, indicating significant thinning and volume loss. The rate of retreat has accelerated since 1982 compared to the longer historical average.
