WHO WE ARE

Dirt Picture Studio was born in Iceland on our first venture there in 2022, amongst the minerals of the thermal fields and newly formed earth. Armed with new cameras we set forth on our first adventure, in complete awe, captivated by the various colors, textures, sights, sounds and smells of this new to us land.  Upon the ending of our trip and logging all of our footage, we happened to notice how much of what we filmed focused on these often overlooked elements  – the soil, the moss, the stones – and upon first viewing of these clips Leo, in jest, exclaimed “Dirt Picture Studio” – and the name was sent out into the universe, and an idea was born.

My adoration, wonder and awe for this planet we call home is unwavering, constantly unfurling in new ways, and is my ever present inspiration to create art, tell stories and use the mediums of photography, film and community art practices to find new and emotive ways to reconnect people back to planet – forging new kinships with the more-than-human world, and foster better planetary stewards.

The films I make don’t always fit into the mainstream, they toy the lines of art project, community art practices, documentaries and visual poems – weaving these individual threads into unified tapestry.  They aim to inspire new perspectives and spark dialog as a means of igniting the embers of individual and communal reverence for nature, reciprocity and stewardship – and the amazing and complex condition of being human on this planet at this point in time.
