I am beyond humbled and excited to have been selected as part of the amazing cohort of women for FEMeeting 2024: Women in Art, Science and Technology conference in Windsor, Ontario from June 23-29th. Elegy For A Glacier was selected for the exhibition being held at the event at the IOTA Gallery, in addition to being selected as part of the closed session presentation for conference attendees. This is my first conference, both in regards to attending and presenting – so I am both excited and nervous to share my process and theories surround the work for my ELEGES project with a room full of badass women and experts in their respective fields of study. I am excited to see the different ways that ELEGES is beginning to manifest itself and look forward to sharing more information as things progress. I will also be sure to share images and video of my time in Windsor as i will be leaving on the 26th to participate in closed sessions, workshops and events and look forward to meeting all of the amazing women who are part of this conference.

“The ELEGE|S| project was born within this realm of anticipatory grief. As a female identifying artist, more often than not, I allow my feminine intuition, emotional landscape and my connection to planetary kin, guide the path of the work that I create. I channeled my grief into a visual and written elegy for the glaciers I encountered during my time in Iceland, invoking my memory of them, and the sadness that stirred within me at the thought of their demise. Elegy For A Glacier is my ode to these kin that help shape our climate, landscapes, cultures, communities, ecosystems, knowledge, economy, art and imagination. .”
